James has been teaching meditation since 1978.
He created and has taught the "Awakening Joy" course since 2003. ( Over 13,000 people have taken the course.)
James leads retreats, workshops and classes in the U.S. and abroad.
He is a founding teacher of Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, California.
James lives with his wife, Jane Baraz, in Berkeley, California.
