About Thanissara

Thanissara actively works for social and racial justice, animal welfare and a sustainable planet. She is a Dharma teacher, former Buddhist nun of 12 years, and has an MA in Mindfulness Psychotherapy Practice. With her husband Kittisaro, she is co-author of Listening to the Heart and is co-founder of Dharmagiri, a meditation center located in rural KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. The center supports several relief programs in South Africa.Thanissara has taught depth meditation retreats the last 30 years in the EU, USA, South Africa and Israel.
